7 Clean Beauty Brands at Target
As if there were not enough reasons to love Target already, recently it has become a champion for carrying clean beauty brands at an accessible price point.
What constitutes as “clean” is very complex—not every natural ingredient is good for you and not every synthetic ingredient is bad. This article from Harper's Bazaar is a great resource for learning more about this complicated topic. As I’ve been learning the ins and outs of what ingredients should be avoided, I’ve slowly started to transition my beauty collection to safer options. With affordable clean beauty brands, it’s easy to test out and convert to healthier options little by little. Here are seven brands you can find in stores and online at Target.
Versed
Did you know that only 11 chemicals are banned from cosmetics in the U.S. while 1,300 are banned in Europe? For the skincare company Versed, they sell their products in the U.S., but they formulate them according to E.U. standards. By using these guidelines, Versed ensures that all ingredients are proven safe for our skin, and they have all sorts of skin-loving products. One of their most popular is the Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm which gently removes makeup and cleanses without stripping skin.
Love Beauty and Planet
Love Beauty and Planet puts clean beauty and sustainability at the forefront of their brand. All of the ingredients for their shampoos, conditioners, body washes, and body lotions are ethically sourced and organic, and the packaging is all recyclable. These adorable items prove that cute and high-quality products can still cut down on waste. Find their scalp scrubs, shower oils, aluminum-free deodorants, and more right on the shelves of Target.
Cocokind
One of my favorite brands at Target is Cocokind, a San Francisco-based company with innovative, natural, and non-irritating products. Using mostly certified organic ingredients, Cocokind products are fun to use. Their best-selling matcha moisturizing stick and macabeet tinted stick quickly give a moisturizing glow. They also have a rosewater toning water, a turmeric spot treatment stick, and a chia facial oil.
W3II People
While clean skincare is easier to come by these days, finding clean makeup can be a little bit trickier. W3II People offers makeup products that are both good for you and good for the planet with sustainably-minded ingredients and packaging. Their products are formulated with hydrating plant-based ingredients, like aloe, and they have no toxic chemicals, preservatives, or fillers. Some favorites you may want to try out are their bronzing stick, highlighter and blush trio, or lipgloss.
SW Basics
The name of this skincare brand truly reflects what they're all about. SW Basics products contain as few and as basic of ingredients as possible. For this brand, fewer ingredients means more gentle results—which is ideal for those with sensitive skin. Products like their day and night serums contain less than five ingredients. They also have natural and cruelty-free shea butter and coconut oil creams and facial toners.
Acure
Much like Versed, Acure is a brand that offers high-quality skin and hair products for a fraction of the price of high-end products. Acure’s mission is to provide good-for-you products that are accessible–so we can all shine brighter. All of their skin and hair items are free from parabens, sulfates, formaldehyde, paraffin, and animal testing. They have a wide range of unique products like this Seriously Soothing Cloud Cream and Resurfacing Moisturizer.
The Honest Company
Founded by Jessica Alba, The Honest Company sells all things free from harsh chemicals—from makeup to skincare to laundry detergent. Alba founded the company in 2011 with a mission to create safe and effective products so you don’t have to choose between good and good for you. With simple and cute packaging, you can get almost every beauty product imaginable like mascara, de-puffing eye gel, and liquid lipstick. They are all free from synthetics and parabens.
Every time I go into Target, there are even more clean beauty and skincare brands to check out! What are your favorites?
